slice house 1Today I dropped off two Batik Confection quilts to be displayed at the Images 2009 Quilt show. The Festival is a citywide celebration of Quilts from August 5-9, 2009. I hope you get a chance to stop by and see all the talent from around the world. Check out the special exhibit showing the Thimble Pleasures guild “Slice Houses.” Hopefully, all 16 participants will have their quilt on display to encourage others to try this group effort. It’s a great way to learn new techniques and learn about the other people in your group. Each qult was accomplished with the help of eight quilters. Kathleen Murphy’s quilt won second place at the IQA 2008 Quilt Show in Houston. Spread the word on this special celebration!

Postcards

While the storm was drenching the soil with more water, I was inside the Holliston Cable Studio planting some thread play Hosta and yellow flowers by the Holliston Cable Access Television Sign on a quilted postcard.  It was fun and easy to create personal postcards with digital photos and pre-printed fabric.  Adding some “bling”  with crystals brightened my spirits.  Watch the next show and see, step-by-step, how to create some beautiful, sunny, and cheerful sentiments to mail.

Prairie Point wall hanging

Prairie Point wall hanging

In June I demonstrated how to make prairie points for your quilts.  I showed three methods for constructing prairie points.  Each method has merit.  If you have left over squares of fabric from a scrappy quilt, making a bunch of prairie points and arranging them as you like is perfect!  Using the quick points ruler and varigated fabric, prairie points are quick and fun!  Check out the show on Comcast cable channel 8 or Verizon fios, Holliston area channel 32.  Let me know what you think!
